Peter Houghton

PETER HOUGHTON most recently directed The Heartbreak Choir for MTC’s 2022 season.

In 2016 Peter directed The Odd Couple for MTC, starring Shaun MiCallef and Francis Greenslade. Other directing credits include The Boy at the Edge of Everything, True Minds, Art & Soul, The Recruit and Hinterland for MTC, Svetlana In Slingbacks and God’s Last Acre for Playbox, Noises Off for Marriner Theatres, and A Hotel, Evening for Black Swan Theatre Company.  As an actor he has performed with Malthouse, STC, MTC, Melbourne Festival, Black Swan and in film and TV productions including Howzat – Kerry Packers War, Newstopia, The Eye of The Storm, Killing Time, Halifax, Metal Skin, Little Oberon among others.

Peter has received Victorian Green Room Awards for Best Actor, Best Director and Best New Australian Play as well as several nominations for his acting work. The Pitch was also Show of The Week in Edinburgh. He is currently writing a feature film comedy and developing a television series.
